PA Cashier, Finance building, M-F 8-4:30, PRN

A cashier is an employee who posts payments and adjustments accurately and promptly from both patients and insurance. These payments are received by mail, electronically or through lock box services. A cashier makes deposits accurately and timely. They perform account adjustments, maintain reference manuals, receipts and otherwise handle payments in accord with Generally Accepted accounting principles and safeguards established by this facility.

Primary Responsibilities:

Assist patients on the phone as needed – accepting payments and answering questions regarding previous paymentsEnsure that all records and files are maintained in an accurate and timely mannerPerform daily work in MMC’s information system and other web based systems as neededPost contractual adjustments in accord with current contractsPost electronic and paper payments from payers to appropriate accounts

Education required : High school diploma or GED.

Education preferred: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a field related to healthcare billing, business, or a related field is preferred. 

Experience: Prior experience in the healthcare environment and/or customer service is preferred. 

Additional skills/abilities: A working knowledge of computers and systems to include Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook are necessary.  This position requires the ability to communicate in a pleasant, professional, concise, and caring manner. It also requires critical thinking and problem solving to ensure the best care possible for our patients. It also requires the ability to perform accurate mathematical accounting work under daily deadline pressure.
