The Neurosurgery department at UPMC Mercy is seeking a dedicated and motivated Physician Assistant (PA) or Acute Care Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) to join our inpatient Advanced Practice Provider (APP) team on night shifts.

This role offers the opportunity to work alongside an exceptional team of residents, attending neurosurgeons, and interdisciplinary professionals to deliver outstanding care to complex and critically ill patients in a Level 1 Trauma Center.

Key Responsibilities:

 Deliver comprehensive care to neurosurgical patients at all stages, including pre-operative, post-operative, intensive care, and rehabilitation units. Manage and perform neurosurgical consults in collaboration with the neurosurgical team. Actively participate in daily rounds, contributing to individualized treatment plans and ensuring seamless care transitions. Maintain meticulous documentation and uphold the highest standards of patient care in a high-acuity environment. Collaborate with residents, attending physicians, and multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Schedule:

 Three 13-hour night shifts per week, including weekends, providing flexibility and balance in your professional life.

Staff/Senior Level:

The Staff or Senior Advanced Practice Provider (APP) is a Physician Assistant or Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner and a member of the care delivery team. The APP is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care. The APP has responsibility, authority, and accountability for the provision of care through supervision by and collaboration with a physician. The APP manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with all team members. The role of the APP encompasses the beginnings of leadership, partnership, collaboration, and supervision. The APP establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients, and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The APP begins to demonstrate a commitment to the community and to their healthcare profession.

The successful candidate will be placed according to years and months of experience for employment purposes.
