Overview The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) will be responsible for seeing all aspects of outpatient orthopaedic care, acute, subacute and chronic diagnoses. Procedures such as joint injections, aspirations, fracture and joint reductions. 3 month supervised training for all new hires. Schedule will include, varying shifts 3 weeks of day coverage 8am - 5pm with a ½ day administrative time. 1 week per 4 covering weekends (4 hours shifts) and evenings 4 hours shifts). Some holiday coverage 9a -1p. Closed Thanksgiving and Christmas. The Physician Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) will work under the general supervision of their Medical Director, all physician partners, and their APP Manager, in WakeMed Physician Practices to deliver competent medical care to patients at WakeMed. This position can consist of both inpatient and outpatient care depending on the needs of the service and is outlined in the clinical job expectations. This may include completion of referrals, consults, daily patient rounds, daily notes, discharge summaries, procedures, clinic notes, pre and post procedure care, prescribing and patient care follow-ups. Will work closely with other healthcare providers in a collaborative multidisciplinary approach to maximize the care we provide to our patients. As a healthcare professional, will function as an educator for PA/NP/CNM/DO students from healthcare education programs. Within this position the PA or NP will maintain the scope of practice to be consistent with the policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines governed by the North Carolina Medical Board and any other federal or state regulatory agencies, as well as the policies and procedures of WakeMed. Additional certifications such as Advanced Life Support may be required based on clinical area of practice, this will be outlined in the clinical job expectations and reviewed annually during the annual review process.
