Overview Position Summary: The Advanced Practice Nurse - Medical Oncology –(APN) is an advanced practice nurse with specialty training to practice in an oncology setting. The APN evaluates diagnoses, clinically monitors and manages oncology, hematology, and genetics patients utilizing advanced assessment skills and knowledge of clinical therapeutics. The APN role is an integrated one, which includes clinical, educational, and research components. Other roles include but are not limited to chemotherapy teaching, bone marrow biopsies, and cancer surveillance. The APN demonstrates expertise in providing clinical care and counseling to individuals concerned about medical oncology and hematologic related diseases and their risk of hereditary cancer. Job Specifics Hematology/oncology physicians in this Center for Cancer Care attached to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, a level one trauma center in Rockford, Illinois, are seeking a certified and Illinois licensed advanced practice nurse to work full-time treating patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Schedule is primarily Monday-Friday with no weekend call. Services offered include IV chemotherapy, oral chemotherapy adherence programs, clinical trials, radiation therapy, cancer high risk genetics, and survivorship. The Cancer Center Quality patient care support services provided in this state-of-the-art cancer center include social, nutritional, financial, pastoral, palliative care, navigation, counseling and support groups. The Patricia D. Pepe Center for Cancer Care is Commission on Cancer and Quality Oncology Practice Initiative accredited.
