 We have an exciting Packaging Design Intern opportunity in Aurora, IL or Flint Michigan.  Smurfit Westrock’s Corrugated Division maintains state-of-the-art Structural Design centers that provide design and engineering expertise to our customers.  We are currently looking for an innovative team player with a commitment to quality to join our core group in Aurora, IL.  We’re looking for someone with a drive to make a difference - to invent or re-invent packaging for the retail market, to bring voice to our customer brands, to enhance the consumer experience, to challenge themselves, and to grow within one of North America’s leading packaging companies.

 

Qualifications:

Should be pursuing a degree in Packaging Design 

Responsibilities:

Interact with Account Executives and customers to determine packaging design/display needs and objectives Perform a variety of moderately complex to complex design assignments, exercising considerable latitude in the use of creative and independent judgmentDevelop designs to enhance customer products, improve margins, and reduce packaging costsPrepare samples for customer presentations and provide detailed information for production implementation  Responsible for project development record keeping, file naming  Coordinate with Tooling Coordinator by providing die-lines, machine restrictions, mockups, or other required specificationsCommunicate project development path to Account Executives and customers, as neededParticipate in project review meetings with sales, project management and other designers

Results:

Successful completion of the Packaging Design Intern program will result in a working knowledge of Box Styles, Corrugators, Flexo Folder Gluers, Rotary Die Cutters, Bobst Die Cutters, Bobst Post Folder Gluers, Mitsubishi EVOLs, ArtiosCAD, ArtiosCAD 3D, CAPE PACK, Kongsberg XL 24, Kongsberg CM1930, Coatings, Scoring Allowances & Safety.
