Job Title:          Packaging Attendant – Rolls

Shift:              PM (3:55pm – 12:00am)
            (starting and ending times may vary depending on production)

Pay Rate:         $27.22

Job Description:   
The Packaging Attendant sets up, adjusts, operates and monitors the slicers, wrapper, baggers, robots, metal detectors, kwik lok machines and checkweighers. He/She will perform mechanical and preventative maintenance procedures on the above listed equipment. The Packaging Attendant will initiate the changeover between varieties. He/She will clean all related equipment between changeovers. The Packaging Operator will perform all allergen clean ups and quality checks in accordance with standard procedures then neatly and accurately fill out all necessary paperwork. Responsible for area housekeeping and other duties as assigned by supervisor.   

Job Functions: 
1)    Review pertinent information with the previous shift i.e. mechanical issues etc
2)    Monitor slicer for proper number of slices
3)    Monitor heat settings on the wrapper to assure proper seal
4)    Monitor product flow to the wrapper, so it does not jam
5)    Monitor the product flow through the baggers, adjust baggers for product size changes
6)    Set up and change kwik lok codes and kwik loks as needed 
7)    In conjunction with the Bagger/Slicer operator, monitor the bagger and robot area (BL2 only)
8)    Change film on the wrapper when needed
9)    Change blades on the slicer when needed
10)    Set lugs and former to assure proper wrapping
11)    Set check weigher to proper product and perform checks
12)    Set Metal Detector to specifications for product running and perform checks
13)    Assist with the re-wraps as needed
14)    If running the recip slicer – change slicer heads when needed
15)    Perform routine preventative maintenance
16)    Utilize technical manuals  
17)    Neatly and accurately fill out all necessary documentation (Ex. HACCP – CTS)
18)    Maintain a safe neat and clean work area accordance with GMP and good housekeeping practices 
19)    Communicate with co-workers and supervisors
20)    Follow all JSA guidelines  
21)    May have to train on a different shift for the position. 

Qualifications: 
Has demonstrated success as a backup Packaging Attendant in Lakeland and/or has had prior job experiences on similar equipment as outlined in the job description.  Any formal technical schooling will be considered.

Note:  This position will be awarded to the employee who possesses the necessary experience and mechanical aptitude needed to qualify for the job.  Consideration of past job history including performance, safety and attendance, will be a part of the evaluation process.  This position will not be awarded on the basis of seniority.

Work Conditions:
1)    8-12 Hour shift. Will receive 2 fifteen-minute breaks and one-half hour break. Overtime is required.
2)    Environment – Noise levels will be minimal to moderate and temperature will be controlled. Lighting is sufficient.

Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation.
