Packaging Designer
1325 Walnut Ridge Drive, Hartland, WI 53029, USA | Quality Assurance - 9370 | Full Time The Packaging Designer is responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and executing packaging solutions that align with brand guidelines and best practices to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and deliver quality results within set timelines. This role requires a strong balance of creativity and precision, as well as the ability to work independently while working closely with cross-functional teams to bring packaging designs to life. Essential Responsibilities Packaging Compliance + Ensure all packaging designs meet legal, environmental, trademark/copyright, and regulatory requirements (e.g., labeling, recycling logos, disclosures). + Collaborate with legal and compliance to verify adherence to federal, state, and local packaging standards. + Work closely with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure packaging meets quality standards and is compatible with production processes. + Review and update packaging designs to adhere to changing regulations or company policies. Packaging Creative + Design innovative and eye-catching packaging concepts that align with the brand identity and resonate with target audiences. + Collaborate with merchandising and cross-functional teams to understand category and product vision, competitive positioning, key features/benefits, and consumer needs. + Create packaging mockups and prototypes to visualize design concepts, gather design and content feedback from stakeholders, and ensure feasibility and accuracy before production. + Develop die lines and packaging templates, ensuring optimal use of style, functionality, materials and cost efficiency. + Maintain a consistent and cohesive design language across product lines and packaging formats. + Stay current with design trends, material innovations, and consumer preferences to elevate packaging designs continually. Packaging Deliverables & Timelines + Prepare and deliver print-ready files and artwork to manufacturers for production, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and quality. + Create packaging specifications, including materials, finishes, and production methods, and communicate these to vendors. + Manage and organize all packaging design files, ensuring proper version control and easy access for cross-functional teams. + Coordinate with sourcing and merchants to ensure packaging designs are completed on time, within budget, and meet project milestones. + Conduct quality checks on final packaging samples to ensure design specifications align before mass production. Qualifications + Bachelor Degree in Art/Design, Graphic Design, Packaging Design, or a related field. + 2 or more years of experience as a graphics/packaging designer or similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing design expertise. + Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.). Preferred Qualifications + Passion for packaging design and an understanding of how great packaging enhances the in-store and online consumer experience in order to drive sales. + Strong eye for design, color, typography, and layout, with an exceptional ability to translate briefed concepts into visually appealing and functional packaging. + Knowledge of materials and packaging production processes. + Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and attention to detail. + Familiarity with packaging laws and regulations. + Creative problem-solving skills to find solutions to packaging challenges, whether technical, aesthetic, or logistical. + Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively across diverse teams.
