Objective
The Packaging Development Specialist is responsible for the development and validation of material testing and insight for HoT packaging, ensuring the functionality and viability of each material process and for each new product that requires it. This role delivers material testing and insight to improve manufacturing processes and enable new ventures. The role requires a proactive approach to problem solving to assist internal customers, new product manufacturing, and improvement projects. This role will lead projects and initiatives autonomously while working in collaboration with the R&D team, the HUBs, Market Companies and broader Innovation and Creative Team(s).
Functions
Identify, analyze, and solve problems proactively
Work with R&D Project Management and R&D Manager to anticipate key technical/commercial issues and raise issues with appropriate context, severity of impact, and mitigating factorsView obstacles as solvable challenges by provide knowledge and creative options for overcoming challenges with timely business solutionsPresent risk mitigation plans with calculated timelines, inputs, and expected results that can be utilized and built upon collaboratively with relevant teams and stakeholdersGuide, manage, and inform packaging development and suppliers
Provide packaging suppliers with the technical guidelines for the development of the corresponding designsReview validation and approval of sketches, designs, dummies, and final samplesDefine and develop specifications for packaging materials as well as technical data sheets for the finished productsAssist in compatibility validation of packaging solutions with existing processes and systems, including verifying functionalityCultivate a culture of information sharing
Understand when to share messages and information with Project Management and senior leadership to ensure all stakeholders remain well informedAble to craft succinct messaging for a senior and non-technical audience that fosters understanding and influence across cross-functional teamsConnect within and across similar positions at Pernod Ricard to remain updated on latest information, trends, and developments at Pernod RicardDefine and share areas for future innovation
Stay informed of the latest trends and innovations in packaging, materials development and commercialization to act as a resource and expert for the Consumer Insights team and to inform areas for future investigation and innovationUsing your technical expertise and knowledge of the field, surface new technical innovations that can drive both product and commercial innovationImprove the package development process
Deliver analytical and measurement-driven insights for how to improve current materials, seeking process efficiencies, savings and/or cost improvements for the manufacturing process to create new value and enable faster delivery of new productsConduct technical due diligence on existing processes and vendor relationships to drive improved results, timelines, and stakeholder satisfactionRequirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or Package Engineering or related scientific field or subject area required. Certifications including Master’s degree preferredLanguages: English (must have excellent/fluent business proficiency in written and verbal communication) and SpanishA minimum of 5+ years experience of demonstrated ability in F&B or CPG innovation environments2-3 years of innovation development and leading strategy to apply consumer/market insights to concepts in packaging/materials development and experimentation, ideally in F&B or CPG related field or luxury gifting2-3 years experience in hygiene standards/food safety including HACCP1-2 years experience in continuous process improvementJob Posting End Date:
