Job SummaryYou will develop and commercialize innovative and cost optimized packaging solutions across a wide range of product/package forms and brands. You will an opportunity to collaborate with high performing cross-functional teams to drive the growth of market leading brands such as Nature’s Miracle, Tetra, Hot Shot and Rejuvenate by driving great packaging executions in point of sale displays, new product commercialization and the maintenance of core product lines. This is an exciting role for a packaging engineer and a key to success is strong technical knowledge of packaging materials, design, and manufacturing equipment combined with a passion for collaboration, accountability, and action.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities Evaluate current packaging and create cost improvement strategies for both existing and new package designs. Review preliminary production samples (PT samples), and provide feedback to vendors on improvements Creation and management of dieline drawings and other documentation relating to the structural designs and cost improvement strategies. Organization, planning and tracking the direction & status of projects, and interactions with cross functional groups. Provide key dimensional attributes of packaging structure to Supply Chain and Marketing Communicates and coordinates strongly with internal creative graphic designers, industrial designers, product engineers, global and regional marketing stakeholders, creative agencies and vendors. Take technical leadership role in concept reviews, design reviews and prototyping and production reviews to deliver the benefit of his/her experience and knowledge in various process, material, budget and design constraints. Strong working knowledge of factors relating to retail success of a wide variety of price points, packaging designs, and structures. Interaction and coordination with assigned manufacturing site or Marketing teams Knowledge of packaging and shipping test methods to assure packaging performance meets shipping stresses Participate in package testing according to ISTA standards Deliver packaging innovations that drive cost savings, brand retail leadership and production efficiency improvements Education and Experience Profile Bachelor’s degree in Package Design, Industrial Design, Chemical Engineering, or Package Engineering – or background experience appropriate to the position. 3+ years of experience preferred Previous experience in consumer products packaging preferred Knowledgeable in CAPE, ArtiosCAD, and Adobe Illustrator Required Skills Ability to organize, manage, and properly prioritize multiple projects Experience and knowledge in methods and processes that lead to cost reduction and cost effectiveness in both the early design and implementation phases. Strong analytical abilities Ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment High sense of enthusiasm in creating the best designs possible in a wide range of price points. Strong communication and written skills Ability to work well in a team setting Work Environment
