Packaging Engineer Intern
JOB OBJECTIVE: Assist in Development of packaging designs, materials and processes. Propose recommended changes from design through to implementation. Investigate and analyze existing dispensing and packaging processes for on-going continuous improvement in the areas of quality, cost, throughput, capability, efficiency, workflow and overall resource utilization. *This is a Co-op position that will last roughly 6-8 months. It will start in June 2025. There may be some flexibility regarding start and end dates. CORE DUTIES: 1. Support ongoing efforts of the Packaging Engineer and Packaging Specialist, Production personnel, and vendors to develop packaging designs, materials and processes. 2. Identify or design product primary packaging, secondary kit packaging and distribution packaging. 3. Work with internal scientific staff and external test labs to qualify new or revised packaging or delivery methods. 4. Assist with performing financial justification analysis, writing material specifications. 5. Understands and complies with ethical, legal and regulatory requirements applicable to our business. KEY QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Current pursing Bachelor or Master degree in packaging engineering. 2. Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to effectively work on many priorities at one time, which change frequently. 3. Proven ability to interact productively with team members. 4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 5. Must be computer literate in Word and Excel. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Experience with development of Engineering and/or Drafting Standards. 2. Experience using document management software applications PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 1. Ability to work in a production environment around automated equipment. 2. Ability to work in an office environment utilizing a computer workstation. 3. Ability to work in a lab environment with chemical and biological materials. 4. Ability to travel by car or airplane, for one or several days, to suppliers, equipment vendors, trade shows, etc. 5.
