PACKAGING SPECIALIST
Summary You will serve as a PACKAGING SPECIALIST in the Engineering and Product Support Directorate of NAVSUP WEAPON SYSTEMS SUPPORT. VRA eligibility is only for the GS-11 grade level. Responsibilities You will perform packaging design and development, including packaging requirement codes and Special Packaging Instructions (SPIs). You will collect data and perform analysis, documenting findings in detailed technical reports. You will provide technical evaluations of engineering drawings, along with physical and chemical parameters of materials. You will monitor packaging and storage efforts to ensure life cycle logistics requirements are met. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-12: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector applying broad technical knowledge of packaging, handling, storage, and transportation (PHS&T) to support an organization by helping to develop program strategies and assisting in the execution of those programs. Examples of specialized experience may include: 1) Resolving unprecedented problems having a direct impact on high level packaging engineering programs; 2) Implementing supply policy requirements for all packaging, handling, and storage matters in relation to expendable packaging materials and reusable containers; 3) Preparing international shipments using established requirements and procedures; 4) Interpreting and analyzing complex technical data; 5) Using written and oral communication to deliver packaging engineering requirements to internal and external customers. GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivale to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the technical duties of packaging, handling, storage, and transportation (PHS&T) for an organization. Examples of specialized experience may include: 1) Investigating and/or resolving packaging problems for an organization; 2) Interpreting and applying policies and procedures to packaging duties and assignments; 3) Reviewing and analyzing technical data in relation to assigned work; 4) Collaborating with team members and external customers as needed to resolve issues and complete tasks.
