Pacs Administrator - Full-time - Days
Under general supervision, is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). Acts as a liaison in digital imaging initiatives within the department and other departments. Works with all departments that interface with enterprise PACs including Imaging, Cardiology, Operating Rooms, critical care units, etc

Education:
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Successful completion of an Accredited Radiography Program preferred.

Licensures/Certifications:
Registered by the American Registry of Radiology Technology and current State of MD Licensure preferred.

Experience:
• Ideally, work requires the level of knowledge acquired through completion of two year accredited Radiography program and a minimum of three years experience as a technologist. Previous experience with PACs preferred.
Skills:
• Working knowledge of computer hardware, radiology related software and systems procedures
• Knowledge of database/systems management principles and practices
• Knowledge of medical Imaging, related terminology and familiarity of radiology equipment
• Healthcare background to understand physician clinical needs and hospital information flow
• Complete understanding of Radiology workflow and ability to troubleshoot in a creative manner
• Ability to respond to complex situations in a calm manner
Effective oral and written communication skills

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Configure PACS, PowerScribe, CardioServer (CPAC), Synapse CV (CPAC), Vitrea, Observer, and Triad groups and assign users with appropriate login privileges
o As expert application user, train technical staff and physicians on the use of PACS, PowerScribe, Synapse CV and CardioServer
o Train PACS Super Users on advanced PACS functionality required to help maintain system operation
• Ensure timely capture of DICOM digital data and assess regularly to ensure imaging data integrity
o Review clinical studies on PACS to confirm order matching and varied workflow accuracy Monitor PACS Exception Forms and HIS Registration Error notifications; make timely corrections
o Merge patient records and make patient and study level corrections as appropriate
 Use Advanced Radiology RIS to correct outside studies sent to GBMC PACS
o Correct problem studies in a timely fashion to ensure efficient and complete reporting
• Perform daily system status checks to maintain optimal operation of the GBMC PACS/CPACS systems
o Review PACS/CPACS storage status, monitors and queues; act on any issues as needed
o Oversee server functions including database backups, resource use, services, file pruning, storage space addition, etc.
• Accurately maintain database of devices connected to PACS/CPACS and of PACS/CPACS PCs
o Daily status checks and issue troubleshooting of connected devices including PACS/CPACS PCs, modalities, DICOM document scanners, CD burner(s), DICOM printers
o Work with MIS to ensure good operation of PACS/CPACS PCs and assist radiologists and cardiologists with outside device configuration for viewing PACS/CPACS and Vitrea studies
o Work with MIS to ensure operation of PACS/CPACS on various hospital PC configurations
• Project management for new imaging equipment installations
o Participate in vendor selection process
o Set team meetings and assign tasks as required
o Configure devices to communicate with PACS/CPACS
• Analyze workflow to create and implement solutions that support Radiology & Cardiology
o Build PACS/CPACS configuration to support department workflow
 Maintain DICOM device list, PACS worklists, and HIS/RIS mapped procedure lists
o Oversee HL7 feature changes and additions that provide enhanced functionality for the department
• Provide QA audits and analysis to Radiology & Cardiology management team upon request
o Research Quantros events and provide detailed analysis
• Troubleshoot networking, HL7, CD burning, and imaging report issues
o Review daily email failure reports and automated system failure notifications; research root cause and make corrections
• Remote access support for radiologists, vascular surgeons, and cardiologists dictating off-site, i.e. home offices, Advanced Radiology office, vRad, etc.
o Provide install support & documentation to Advanced Radiology, Johns Hopkins; troubleshoot configuration and connectivity issues
o In conjunction with MIS, support AdRad PACS application use at GBMC
• Serve as point person for all IT related downtime events in Radiology and Cardiology
o Create and maintain Radiology IT policies and procedures
o Gather facts about downtime events and contact necessary support to contribute to efficient resolution
o Communicate event-specific downtime instructions to technical and clinical staff, as well as uptime resolution steps; perform necessary uptime corrections to ensure a return to optimal imaging study workflow
• Triage HIS issues and funnel to support as appropriate
• Create internal and external vendor support requests as needed and monitor ticket status through to completion
o Monitor GBMC PACS/CPACS ticket queue and address issues as they arise
• Perform PACS/CPAC upgrades
o Evaluate upgrade releases for GBMC applicability
o Manage project from vendor install, testing, validation, training and upgrade in production
o Communicate upgrades to all appropriate parties
• Create periodic reports for Radiology & Cardiology department such as study lists, LDM data, credentialing, business and clinical support data
• Create and manage Radiology infoweb content
• Ensure all department, hospital and JCAHO guidelines are met by acquiring, using and sharing specialized clinical, professional, and technological knowledge to serve the organization’s customers effectively
o Remain current on DICOM, IHE, and HIPAA standards
o Assist Radiology Director in coordinating strategic planning for medical imaging initiatives
• Assist Radiology Director and MIS Management in developing Radiology IT capital and operational budget planning
• Attend meetings including Radiology Management, MIS All Staff, Change Control, MIS Huddles, Application, Radiology Director Monthly Update and Special Project meetings
• On Call Requirement
o Report on-call systemic issues to MIS
• Perform other duties as required

Pay Range

$75,318.06 - $135,572.50

Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
