Paint Line Technician
**Job Title: Paint Line Technician** **Job Description** The Paint Line Technician will have the opportunity for advancement with our growing client. This is a 1st shift opportunity. Work hours are 10-hour days, Monday - Thursday, with 8-10 hours of overtime on Fridays currently. Candidates interested in applying should have received a High School Diploma or GED. The job involves handling a wide variety of duties including inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, parts replacement and repair, as well as routine maintenance. Strong mechanical competence and attention to detail are crucial for this critical position. **Responsibilities** + Diagnose paint process and maintain the line. + Control chemical mixtures, applications, and distribution of the paint/powder. + Report abnormalities of paint process, and suggest corrective actions. + Troubleshoot paint booth operations and provide assistance in resolving non-compliant processes. + Meet with Engineers and Production regarding new paint processes and implementation. + Assist in the modification of work instructions as necessary. + Support and substitute for Paint Line Team Leader as needed. + Train and onboard new painters and train in quality standards. + Serve as a backup Painter as necessary. + Perform and record maintenance including inspection log and filter changes on respirators. + Conduct respirator fit testing and maintain related files. + Document and maintain wastewater files. + Train and onboard material handlers in the paint department. + Serve as a backup material handler and in the assembly process as necessary. + Perform daily checks on PM and adhesion and cure tests. + Order all chemicals, masking supplies, and filters for the department. **Essential Skills** + Proficient in paint application, batching, and paint booth operations. + Experience with training materials and respirator fit testing. + Competence in inspection equipment and preventative/corrective maintenance. + Mechanically inclined with experience in paint line processes and techniques. + Ability to keep a line going, washing, check chemicals, check temperature, check nozzles, and check parts. + Strong troubleshooting skills for paint booth issues. + Effective communication skills and the ability to train new paint line hires. + Competence in documentation and logging information. + Attention to detail and ability to order supplies. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Previous powder coating training classes are a plus. + Experience with liquid painting is a plus. + Understanding and use of restricted access folders for 'Controlled Sensitive Material'. + Proficient in problem-solving and troubleshooting. + Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. + Ability to follow safety policies and procedures. + Proficient in using a Personal Computer and software such as Microsoft Office Suite. + Responsive and responsible, willing to 'do whatever it takes' to navigate through demanding situations. **Why Work Here?** We offer health, vision, dental, and 401k with a match up to 6%. The work environment is clean but can be hot in the summer, with fans provided at all work stations. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockford, Illinois. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
