Job Title: General Laborer
Job Description

As a General Laborer, you will support various operations within the facility, including the Press Brake, Paint line, grinding, part cleaning, and more. You will set up and operate heavy-duty power presses to bend, form, stretch, punch, and straighten metal plates, extrusions, formed sheet metal, structural shapes, tubing, forgings, and weldments. Additionally, you will buff, polish, and ensure a class A finish on top-of-the-line products, inspect piece parts for factory blemishes, and utilize pneumatic and electric-powered hand tools.

ResponsibilitiesSupport Press Brake, Paint line, grinding, part cleaning, and other facility operations.Set up and operate heavy-duty power presses to bend, form, stretch, punch, and straighten metal plates, extrusions, formed sheet metal, structural shapes, tubing, forgings, and weldments.Buff and polish piece parts to remove defects during the manufacturing process.Change paint up to 5 times a day, typically 2-3 times.Utilize pneumatic and electric-powered hand tools.Inspect piece parts for factory blemishes.Plan sequence of bends and program CNC control accordingly.Select and position proper tooling into the ram and bed of the machine.Lift and position workpieces between dies of the machine.Start the machine to lower the ram, bending the workpiece between dies.Reposition workpieces and change dies for multiple or successive passes.Hand form or finish workpieces.Operate other equipment in the area.Inspect finished workpieces.Ensure production metrics are being met.Perform miscellaneous duties as required.All other duties as assigned.Essential SkillsExperience with production labor and general labor tasks.Proficiency with power tools and press brake operations.Experience with paint line, grinding, and fabrication.Ability to use a tape measure accurately.Knowledge of working with stainless steel and assembly processes.Additional Skills & QualificationsFlexibility and openness to perform tasks outside of primary responsibilities.No prior experience required, but a strong eagerness and drive to learn and perform well.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

Work in a mid-size, 30-person fabrication shop that includes paint, press brake, welding, and assembly processes. The company is expanding and adding 6-7 new customers in 2024. The facility includes two buildings with a total of 66,000 sq ft, allowing for future growth. Work with mild steel from 20 gauge to 1 inch. The shift is Monday to Thursday from 5:30am to 3:30pm, with the possibility of overtime on Fridays. Paid breaks and a 20-minute paid lunch are provided.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dunlap, Tennessee.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.00
