PainterJob Description Summary
Applies paint and other protective coatings to interior and exterior surfaces. Repairs/restores damage surfaces by methods such as filling, smoothing, shaping and leveling with plaster and other drywall compounds, metal and synthetic resins; ability to mix and apply caustic agents such as alkali and pickling compounds; capable of preparing coating materials by tinting, mixing, blending, matching and blending of various additives; skilled in the use of all accepted trade practices, such as brushes, spay guns, rollers of all types and other applications; able to prepare painted boards or metal surfaces for sign work (75%). Maintains, inspects, adjusts and repairs all buildings’ windows, doors, roofs, floors, foundations, ceilings, partitions (interior and exterior), wall systems, and finishes (interior and exterior), and associated components. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Identifies needed materials, tools and techniques needed to complete assignments, determines scope of minor revisions to work order requests; consults with Supervisor regarding major changes or additions to work order.
• Maintains records as to type and color of paint used, when directed by Supervisor will assist with technical aspects of projects given to outside contractors. Maintains painting tools and equipment; stores new and used paints and paint supplies in appropriate location (fire rated cabinets).
• Investigates work orders for appropriate solutions. Performs routine building inspections, determines what surface coating and what finish is compatible with material to be covered and prepares coating for use.
• Prepares surfaces for painting by sanding, scraping, chipping, filling and shaping, either by hand or with the use of equipment such as sanders and chipping guns, selects and applies necessary primers and pre-coating materials to assure adherence and durability. Analyzes and performs diagnostic testing of building components, structural elements, building material/finishes to isolate and identify the root cause of failure. Develops interim and permanent solutions for identified elements’ failures.
• Documents all repairs, maintenance, and comments on assigned service order slips. Records routine operating statistics, building painting schedules, maintenance work performed, and other pertinent information in applicable building records and databases.
• Recommends different repairs or treatments to any and all wall treatments or preparations for buildings.
• Balances work assignments in coordination and support of Department work by mechanics within each given building.
• Responds to and corrects deficiencies on assigned service order work slips, executing new, or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, to provide access for future maintenance, and to avoid unsightly, hazards, and unreliable repairs, while meeting manufacturers’ installation specifications and
local codes/requirements.
Requirements
Minimum three (3) years’ experience working as a painter preferably in a Corporate Office setting
Other Qualifications & Physical Requirements:
Must pass a criminal background check
Must be capable to ascend/descent ladders and stairs for completing daily tasks
Must be capable of lifting up to 25 lbs. unassisted
