Responsible for the safe performance of professional skills associated with preparation of surfaces and application of paint or other finishes to buildings interiors and exteriors, equipment and furnishings. Description of Duties • Prepares material, room, or equipment surfaces for painting; mix, match, and apply paint, varnish shellac, enamel and other finishes. • Performs area clean up and rearrangement after job has been completed. • Maintains and clean brushes, ladders, paints, drop cloths and other equipment used in trade. • Cuts and inserts glass. • Preventative maintenance, and emergency repair or scheduled work at night or on weekends. • Assists other trades and teams when necessary. • Performs other duties as assigned. Supervision Received Direct supervision from the assigned supervisor. Supervision Given None. Required Education Completion of 6th grade, or ability to read and write English and perform basic mathematics. Must be able to perform strenuous physical duties, including but not limited to those listed above. Exposure to inside and outside environments; hot, dry, wet, cold; some work in restricted spaces, exposure to dampness, dust, some duties and working conditions may create bodily strain and discomfort. Duties may involve the carrying, lifting and moving of heavy objects, bending, stooping, crawling, climbing, reaching, and other activities requiring physical exertion; climbing, balancing, and working on ladders, scaffolds up to 100 ft. in air. Exposure to paints, shellacs, thinners, and other chemicals common to the trade.
