Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a PAINTING WORKER (TITLE 32), Position Description Number NGD1217000 and is part of the TN ARMY National Guard. This vacancy is covered by Association of Civilian Technicians (ACT), Chapter 103 (Volunteer Chapter). Responsibilities As a PAINTING WORKER, WG-4102-08, you will prepare surfaces (i.e., metal, wood and glass) by removing rust, paint, and loose particles. Prepare coating materials by tinting, toning, etching, blending, and mixing in various additives (i.e., retardants, hardeners, drying agents, and other additives). Read and interpret directions that relate to mixture, use, and application of various kinds of coating materials, solvents, and precoating agents. Apply Chemical Agent Reactive Coating (CARC) materials in accordance with specifications and dimensions. Perform other duties as assigned. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Military Grades: E-3 through E-6 GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must have experience or training which demonstrates the candidate's knowledge of surface preparation (removal of rust, dirt, paint, etc.); coating methods (brushing, rolling, and spraying); and coating materials (paints, varnishes, shellacs, etc.). Must have the ability to use tools and equipment associated with the painting trade and to read and interpret directions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have 12 months experience or training which demonstrates the knowledge of standard surface preparation and coating methods and techniques; experience must demonstrate the skill to sand, wire brush, scrape, spackle, putty, prep surfaces and select appropriate tools to complete assigned tasks; experience must also demonstrate the skill to brush on, roll on, and spray coating materials, and apply other related methods and techniques, such as cutting-in techniques and dip and overflow methods; experience which required the applicant to interpret and follow technical orders, specifications, and publications.
