Responsibilities:

The Licensed Counselor is a member of a collaborative practice model that includes patients, nurses, clinical resource coordinators, physicians, and other practitioners, caregivers, and the community. The Licensed Counselor is knowledgeable about disease, treatment, social and economic implications for individuals and families as it pertains to their age, stage of psychosocial development and discharge needs. The Licensed Counselor is pragmatic in approaching End of Life and ethical issues.

 Certifications and Licensures

LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) OR LMHC (Licensed Mental Health Counselor)

 Education

Master's in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or Community Counselling

 Experience

6-month internship in an acute care setting or 1-year social services in an acute health care setting
