Shingle & Gibb’s ESD Technician is involved in all phases of creating electrical control systems and modifications to standard products for our customers. This includes cutting and drilling control cabinets/panels, mounting and wiring components and participating in final testing. The successful candidate will be able to function in and contribute to a team environment, follow written and verbal instructions and be willing to voice suggestions and concerns to improve the final product.
**Essential Job Functions**
+ Communicates, promotes and showcases the Shingle & Gibb Core Values, policies and procedures throughout the organization
+ Ability to read layout and fabrication drawings to prepare control cabinets for fabrication
+ Use hand and power tools safely to drill, cut and tap control cabinets
+ Read electrical wiring diagrams to precisely connect components in a control cabinet
+ Ability to accurately measure and cut a variety of materials per drawings and instructions
+ Ability to use hand tools to cut, strip, crimp and solder wires
+ Ability to work collaboratively with others
+ Good written and verbal communication skills
+ Attention to detail
+ Capable of multitasking and moving between projects as material becomes available or priorities change
**Job Requirements**
+ High School Degree or equivalent is required.
+ Trade School Certificate or one or more years of equivalent work experience in electrical or mechanical area is preferred
+ Basic knowledge of industrial control components such as push buttons, switches, pilot lights, motor control components
+ 1-3 years of experience building control panels is preferred
+ Experience creating and modifying CAD drawings is a big plus
**Required Skills**
+ Electrical and Mechanical troubleshooting skills.
+ Switchgear and control wiring experience.
+ Customer/ Client focus.
+ Problem Solving/ Analysis.
+ Technology fluent in Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project etc.)
**Work Environment:** Work is performed in an office environment, a shop facility, and in the field. The ESD Technician is required to work from Shingle NY, Amherst Location. Most of the work will be completed in a shop facility where they will fabricate control cabinets and modifications to or assembly of standard control components for multiple projects.
**Physical Demands:** The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential job functions:
+ Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time with frequent walking in an environment that may be cold, hot, noisy, and wet and may have odors related to manufacturing.
+ Ability to lift up to 40 pounds independently.
+ Requires use of company provided safety equipment that may include, but not limited to hard hat, vest, goggles, steel toe shoes, and other protective garments and equipment.
+ Ability to read drawings and see markings and labels on control components
+ Ability to hold and use hand tools during fabrication
**Travel:** The ESD Technician will generally not be required to travel. There may be instances of local or regional travel to test or troubleshoot control cabinets and equipment at customer locations.
**Work Shift and Hours:** Monday - Friday, 8:15a-5:00p in office
**Compensation Details:** The expected pay rate for this position is starting at $22.00 per hour depending on experience.
