To lead a shift on the paper machine and ensure safety of operators while achieving key metrics and production targets focusing on reducing costs through process and equipment optimization, and operator knowledge/skill. Responsible for safety, productivity, quality, efficiency, cost control, compliance, and housekeeping.

Key Responsibilities:

Supports and fosters safety and environmental compliance Possesses a personal dedication for safety, including proactive support of efforts to create a culture of safety excellence Communicates expectations to employees and evaluates performance Addresses individual or crew underperformance and takes appropriate action Provides crews with needed tools, equipment, and training resources Works with front line operators and provide training and development Assists with planning for both outage and routine maintenance activities Understands, communicates, and aligns goals in the area of safety, quality, production, and reliability. Completes daily, weekly, and monthly activity reports Assists in driving process and equipment modifications that result in improved product quality, reduced variation, and higher customer satisfaction For non-conformance events, assists in root cause analysis and recommends effective corrective actions are implemented to mitigate or prevent recurrence Assesses processes for effectiveness and helps to implement improvements in process and equipment reliability on paper machine Demonstrates ability to manage and direct a team to achieve desired goals Able and willing to support the demands of a 24/7 operation Frequent walking, climbing ladders & stairs; crawling into confined spaces; measure/lift/carry objects of varying weights Exposure to dust, heat, dirt, grease, chemicals, noise, various weather conditions & other industrial environments Use of PPE is required

Qualification & Experience

High School Diploma required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Paper Mill Presentation Skills – able to present to individuals and groups Able to work with a diverse group of people to resolve issues Ability to work shifts, weekends, and holidays Excellent verbal and written communication skills Microsoft Office products experience Word and Excel with Project a plus Ability to read work instructions and schematics Possess strong communication and teamwork skills. The ability to achieve results by influencing others and supporting the overall business Safety and team oriented with a good work ethic, positive attitude and the ability to lead a crew of mechanics to complete assigned task
