Paper Mill Maintenance Manager
Accountability To manage and coordinate the development of activities in relation to preventive and corrective maintenance of the installations in the plant, in accordance with the production targets and budgets, for the purpose of ensuring the optimum operation and availability of installations. Primary Duties \u2022 Participate as a member of the mill\u2019s Management Team in formulating Strategies, Plans and Budgets and in monitoring its (subsequent) performance so as to ensure that the Mill goals are achieved \u2022 Define respective department strategy (goals/objectives) and is responsible for successful implementation \u2022 Supervise and control the start-up of projects with new installations in order to attain the results forecast in terms of deadlines and costs and improvements in productivity or quality \u2022 Program and control preventive maintenance work, establishing the tests to which the manufacturing equipment is to be subject \u2022 Minimize downtime and increase machine efficiency by scheduling, overseeing, and performing preventative maintenance on all machinery \u2022 Oversee the sub-contracting of maintenance for the plant\u2019s installations \u2022 Collaborate with Purchasing establishing the technical specifications of materials and implementing stock control of maintenance parts \u2022 Proactively manage stock parts and streamline where feasible, cutting down on obsolete items etc. \u2022 Implement the maintenance budget and monitor its efficiency \u2022 Manage the routine (daily, weekly, monthly etc.) processing activities typically associated with the Maintenance function at plant level in compliance with the standards set by the Group \u2022 Ensure that those employed in the Maintenance function have the knowledge and skills, encourage their development and flexibility, co-ordinate their work, and provide guidance and support whenever necessary \u2022 Review, on a regular basis, the processes in the Maintenance function and, with other members of the Mill\u2019s Management Team, processes within the businesses upon which the Maintenance function is dependent, to ensure that they are delivering what is required in an effective manner \u2022 Ensures that the entire team work towards common goals and objectives \u2022 Defines KPIs for the Maintenance Department (which are cascaded down to the individual team members) and ensure timely follow up and delivery with monthly reports to Mill Manager \u2022 Advise, in the first instance, the Mill Manager at the earliest opportunity of any concerns he/she may have regarding the Performance of the department and/or its processes \u2022 Strive for best in class Maintenance function within the Industry / Set the Industry Standard, adapting new ideas, concepts from others within and outside industry \u2022 Keep up to date on new development and foster learning & development among the team; Oversee that cross training takes place among the team \u2022 Performs other work-related duties and project work as assigned Safety Responsibilities \u2022 Follow all safety policies, and safe work practices \u2022 Comply with all safety signs and PPE requirements \u2022 Listen and learn from any training. Be an active participant in learning a job skill or safety issue \u2022 Ask for assistance if the training or instruction is not clear or you don\u2019t feel comfortable in performing the task correctly and safely \u2022 Report unsafe acts and near misses immediately \u2022 Address problems with manager ASAP. But always try to give solutions to every problem (you may understand more than the manager about the problem and how to fix it) \u2022 Re-address issues with the supervisor on unresolved topics discussed in the past. (the supervisor may have forgotten about those topics) \u2022 Be an active member in the safety of the workplace. Participate in Safety Committee Meetings, Safety Meetings, and when trained on a safety issue. \u2022 Participate in hazard identification process. Skills, Knowledge and Experience \u2022 English, Spanish (preferable) \u2022 Bachelor\u2019s or Master\u2019s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field preferred \u2022 +10 years\u2019 experience in TQM, ISO, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing or Process Improvement \u2022 Good knowledge of ANSI/ISO/SFI/FSC/GMP; Quality Management Systems \u2022 Excellent interpersonal & communication skills (verbal and written), dealing with individuals at all levels; comfortable to represent the company in the best possible light \u2022 High energy, with the ability to work in fast-paced environment \u2022 Proven leadership skills and ability to motivate & develop both senior and junior level staff \u2022 Proficient in Microsoft Office \u2022 Self-motivated and committed individual, strong work ethic \u2022 Excellent analytical skills, methodical approach and commercial acumen Complexity and Creativity \u2022 Ability to work with various departments (sales, operations, finance) to resolve challenges \u2022 Capable of building strong relationships internally and externally (e.g. key customers etc.) \u2022 Able to drive team to continuously improve processes and foster good working relationships \u2022 Capable of stepping back and let the direct reports handle day to day issues with their teams \u2022 Applies analytical thinking Judgment and Decision making \u2022 Ability to work against strict deadlines and deliver on time \u2022 Capable of prioritizing various tasks among team \u2022 Provide sound information to General Manager, supporting him/her in his/her decision making process \u2022 Display well developed organizational skills, demonstrate initiative & judgment and a proven record of service excellence Supervisor Responsibility Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
