Paraeducator Apprentice JobID: 367 + Position Type: Support Staff/ Paraeducator Apprentice + Date Posted: 1/24/2025 + Location: VSCSD Central Office + Date Available: 02/15/2025    This position is under a 2-year grant program and will be limited to 5+ qualifiedcandidates. To be eligible, you must be 18 years of age, a current Vinton-Shellsburg Associate or a current Vinton-Shellsburg High School student. Coursework completed no later than June 2026 and the paraeducator license issued and submitted to Vinton-Shellsburg CSD no later than August 1, 2026. Apprentices will continue to work full-time as associates in the Vinton-Shellsburg CDS with all wages and benefits remaining under the existing contract, enroll in at Kirkwood Community College by spring or summer 2025 semester (or soon after), and complete On the Job Training during the work day. The partner education provider is Kirkwood Community College.Under this pathway, you have two options. Option #1 is a paraprofessional certificate only which includes three courses through Kirkwood. Option #2 is a paraprofessional certificate + Associate Degree.Grant funding will cover tuition and fees for coursework through the partner provider as a reimbursement directly to the college. Continued participation in the apprenticeship program will be dependent upon successful course completion each semester. Candidates will be required to sign a waiver to allow data collection to be released to Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) and to allow data collection and payment to be exchanged with partner universities.
