Position Description:
The Chubb Staff Counsel office of McGuinness & Cicero is currently seeking candidates for a full-time Paralegal position for our Sunrise, Florida office. The attorneys and staff of the firm are employees of ACE American Insurance Company, a Chubb Company.
The Paralegal position provides high level support to attorneys in the office on all aspects of assigned litigation files, focused mainly on managing and advancing the discovery process for assigned cases. The Paralegal must work well independently, demonstrate strong time-management skills, and be fully familiar with the facts, allegations, and legal issues of their assigned files. This position will service mainly GL and D&O-related cases. Under the direction and supervision of the firm’s lawyers and Law Office Administrator, the job duties shall include, but are not limited to:
Draft discovery requests & responses, coordinate discovery process for litigation matters (including follow-up on requests, responses and subpoenas) and summarize discovery responses and update medical chronologies; Legal research; and draft some pleadings, motions & status reports to claims; E-file and e-service of motions, pleadings and discovery requests & responses; Gather, track, organize and summarize records and subpoena responses; Coordinate IMEs, investigators, and experts; Assist in the preparation of cases for trial, hearing, depositions, and mediation; Scheduling depositions, hearings, site inspections, and mediations; Litigation support in addition to coordinating all aspects of document production, organizing and indexing binders, preparing witness files and exhibits; Communicate and interact with the firm’s clients, opposing counsel, and Claims Department to exchange information and documentation relative to the litigation process; Remain familiar with rules of procedure and court practices/preferences and communicate with court and counsel to confirm proceedings and coordinate submissions to court; Administrative case management and update data and document communications in electronic case files; Daily review and management of deadlines and calendars for attorneys.Job Requirements:
Prior paralegal experience in litigation environment; A Bachelor’s degree or certificate of completion from a recognized paralegal training program is preferred, but is not required; Proficiency in MS Office software platforms (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook), Adobe Pro/Logikcull/Kiteworks/DocuSign; ESI tools; Ability to learn Prolaw and HotDocs platforms; Strong time-management, organizational and communication skills;All interested applicants must apply online.
