Paralegal Job ID 207178 Posted 24-Feb-2025 Service line Corporate Segment Role type Full-time Areas of Interest Legal Location(s) Chicago - Illinois - United States of America, Dallas - Texas - United States of America **About The Role:** Under general direction of and as part of the Global Litigation team, as a CBRE Paralegal, you will manage subpoenas and personnel records requests and respond to document and deposition subpoenas on behalf of the Company. The CBRE Paralegal also works collaboratively with the Global Litigation team to provide support on cases, projects, and ongoing initiatives. This job is part of the Legal Support job function. They are responsible for performing and supporting a variety of law-related activities that do not require a law degree. **What You'll Do:** + Review and run the intake of subpoenas to assess their scope, relevance and compliance with legal requirements. + Determine the appropriate course of action for responding to subpoenas, whether for document production or personal appearance. + Serve as a point of contact for business units and corporate departments that receive subpoenas, providing direction and guidance on responding to requests and ensuring timely compliance. + Assist in the process of identifying, collecting, coordinating and producing documents in response to subpoenas. This may involve working with counsel to review documents for relevance and privilege, redacting sensitive information, and using e-discovery software to prepare documents for delivery. + Answer relevant inquiries from internal stakeholders. + Coordinate with external counsel to respond to subpoenas with appropriate documentation in a timely manner under internal attorney supervision. + Interface with external counsel on subpoena-related matters. + Ensure subpoena matters are detailed and tracked in internal databases and that law firm invoices related to subpoenas are reviewed and paid in a timely manner. + Maintain detailed records of all subpoena-related activities, including dates of service, responses provided and relevant correspondence, in databases and trackers. + Review legal hold notices where applicable. + Support the Global Litigation team on special projects and collections matters, as needed. + Participate in the development of department policies and/or procedures for efficient and streamlined operations. **What You'll Need:** To perform this job successfully, an individual will need to perform each crucial duty satisfactorily. A paralegal certificate from a school approved by the American Bar Association (ABA). + Preferred candidate has Certified Legal Assistant designation or passed the Paralegal Advanced Competency Exam and has 3+ years of litigation support experience as a Litigation Paralegal at a law firm or in-house legal department. + A comprehensive understanding of a range of processes, procedures, systems, and concepts related to discovery and subpoenas is required. + Ability to lead multiple subpoenas simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines is essential. + Ability to evaluate and communicate unusual and/or complex content in a concise and logical way. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc. + A preferred candidate has experience leading and working in electronic discovery platforms such as Relativity, Safari, and Legal Tracker. Sophisticated organizational skills with an inquisitive mindset. The minimum salary for the Paralegal position is $50,000 annually and the maximum salary for the Paralegal position is $93,000 annually. The compensation offered to a successful candidate will depend on their skills, qualifications, and experience.
