Description We are in search of a Paralegal to become a part of our team in Houston, Texas, 77010, United States. Operating within the CPA firm industry, this role offers a long term contract employment opportunity. You will be instrumental in reviewing new clients, facilitating the escalation process for decision making, and supporting team lawyers on regulatory topics.
Responsibilities:
• Conduct comprehensive reviews of new clients in the pipeline to initiate the client screening process
• Conduct in-depth reviews and analyses of alerts and reports concerning regulatory and non-regulatory reviews of our clients
• Handle specific topic areas including but not limited to Bribery and corruption, financial stability, negative media profiles, sanctions, restricted topics / industries
• Act as a liaison in the escalation process for decision making with key parties
• Maintain adherence to SLAs while escalating any issues concerning quality or timeliness to management for resolution
• Provide support to team lawyers on various regulatory topics such as global Climate and Sustainability regulations
• Ensure compliance and risk management protocols are adhered to and regularly updated
• Oversee vendor compliance and marketing compliance to maintain legal and regulatory standards
• Conduct compliance assessments regularly to identify potential areas of risk and non-compliance. Requirements • Candidate must possess a bachelor's degree in law or a related field.
• Proven experience as a paralegal in a CPA firm or similar environment.
• Deep understanding of compliance, including compliance assessments and regulatory compliance.
• Demonstrated expertise in regulatory compliance risk management.
• Ability to implement and manage risk-based compliance systems.
• Proficiency in vendor compliance and ensuring adherence to all relevant regulations.
• Experience in marketing compliance, ensuring all promotional materials meet legal requirements.
• Comprehensive knowledge of legal compliance, with the ability to ensure all operations adhere to industry standards and laws.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• High level of professionalism and discretion in handling confidential information.
