The Lowe’s Law Department is seeking an enthusiastic and organized paralegal to support our Litigation practice groups. The Litigation practice groups manage all litigation and administrative charges, as well as supporting Lowe’s key business-related initiatives. This role will provide paralegal support for attorneys on the team with administrative agency charges and litigation, subpoenas, compliance projects, preparation of internal and external reports, and maintenance of an electronic matter-management system. This individual has access to confidential information. The successful candidate must be highly organized and have the ability to prioritize a high-volume workload. In addition, the candidate should be detail oriented with a demonstrated ability to perform work through collaboration.
What you will do
Conduct an initial case assessment to identify and obtain relevant documents to assist counsel in defense of the litigation and administrative chargesCoordinate, schedule and, where directed, interview custodians and witnesses to verify facts and identify relevant documentsDraft a chronology of relevant facts, documents, witnesses and events to assist assigned counselUnder attorney supervision, gather, review, and organize relevant information for discovery and/or early case assessment and reviewPrepare initial draft responses to administrative agency requests for information and/or subpoenas, to include identification of relevant documents, gathering of documents, and preparation of written responseAct as a liaison between outside counsel, in-house counsel and internal business clients to manage the collection of documents and data, coordinate the delivery to outside counsel or agency, and conduct follow up as neededAssist in the preparation of presentations and briefings to internal business clients; and support attorneys with related projects by conducting research, gathering key documents, and organizing filesCompile information and prepare various internal reports which may include forecasts, project updates, legal invoices, accounting and information from various other databasesRequired Qualifications
H.S. Diploma with 8 years' experience working in a corporate legal department or law firm OR Associate's Degree with 4 years' experience working in a corporate legal department or law firm OR Bachelor's Degree with experience working in a corporate legal department or law firmAdditional work experience may be substituted for the degree requirementProficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPointPreferred Qualifications
3 years' experience drafting legal documentsParalegal certificate or State-designated paralegal certificationExperience working in a corporate law departmentRetail ExperienceDemonstrated expertise in drafting presentations using PowerPoint
