Paralegal - Healthcare

The Healthcare Paralegal provides investigative, review, and research support to the Legal Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Triages incoming calls to the Legal Department on matters such as patient rights, allegations of abuse/neglect/misappropriation of property, family-related concerns, discharges, against medical- advice issues, etc. and assign to appropriate counsel/personnel as warrantedIntakes, investigates, and resolves non-privileged allegations of abuse, neglect, theft and privacy (HIPAA) violations and assign to appropriate counsel as warrantedReviews and drafts various legal documentsConducts legal research as neededReceives, reviews, and responds to various inquiries from internal and external sources, including, without limitation, patients and state/federal oversight agenciesActs as a liaison between the Legal Department and other internal departments to support legal and compliance effortsPerforms other duties as assigned/necessaryMinimum Requirements:Paralegal certificate or similar degree in Paralegal/Legal studies requiredCollege degree preferred, but not requiredThree to five (3-5) years of legal experience related to healthcare law in either a law firm or in-house setting preferredAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionExcellent organizational, written and verbal skills, with the ability to quickly analyze issues and craft practical, business-oriented solutionsAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and to consistently meet deadlines with high-quality work product in a fast-paced environmentAbility to interact and communicate effectively with all areas and levels of the organization and outside counselAbility to use judgment, tact and discretionProficiency in all Microsoft office programs including Word, Excel and PowerPointAbility to interact effectively with all areas and levels of the organizationPay Information: $60,000- $62,000 + $5,000 Bonus *Benefit eligibility is dependent on employment status. \t\t\t\t\t\t\t
