Paralegal I Real Estate and Construction

Job Description:

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent requiredAssociates degree or paralegal certificate preferred

Work Experiences:

At least 1 year of relevant experienceExperience in commercial real estate transactions, including construction agreements, design agreements, consulting agreements, vendor contracts, purchase orders, and commercial leasesPrefer candidates with experience in reviewing, drafting and negotiating commercial real estate lease agreements, especially big box retail, anchor tenant agreements, and national tenantsExperience with lease related documents including estoppels, subordination, non-disturbance and attornment agreements, collateral assignments, lien waivers, and applications for paymentExperience with construction and design issues, lien waivers, notices of furnishing, notices to proceed/commencement, certificates of substantial completion, and other related construction documentationKnowledge of AIA forms is helpful, but not requiredExperience with master services agreements, site specific addenda, and scopes of work (including construction, design, and other types of work)Experience reviewing and evaluating due diligence materials, such as title search results, ALTA surveys, and zoning reportsExperience reviewing and evaluating shopping center master covenants and reciprocal easement agreements, along with drafting waivers among occupants for use, location or other operating restrictions

Skills:

Basic knowledge of commercial real estate transactions, commercial contracts, and amendmentsStrong technical aptitude with case management systems (Legal Tracker, Exterro, Navex) and document management software (Conga, iManage)Proficient use of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and PowerPointAbility to remain organized, pay strict attention to detail, and meet critical deadlinesExcellent time management skills and ability to support multiple legal professionalsAbility to operate professionally, effectively, and ethically as an individual contributor and member of a teamAbility to identify basic legal issuesConsistently operate with the highest level of discernment and confidentiality

Responsibilities:

Document collection, preparation, processingMatter in-takeMatter management with attorney supervisionDraft relevant documents from formsFinalize documents, and collect signatures, including using e-signature platformsAssist in planning meetings and developing training materialsInterface with business partners as neededConduct basic legal research, including locating statutes, cases, and regulatory materialsCollect, organize, and maintain legal documents in a confidential and secure mannerReview, analyze, and process invoices and check requests to ensure timely payment in accordance with legal department guidelinesMetrics tracking and reportingIntake and appropriately distribute Legal Department mail and e-mail correspondenceMay be required to perform other duties as assigned
