Preference:

Paralegal or legal assistant experience.

 

This position pays an hourly rate of $25.00 per hour. This is a 30 hour per week position. The duration of the position is indefinite but is expected to last six (6) months or more.

 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

 

This position will function as a paralegal/administrative assistant for a special project in the Office of the General Counsel.  It involves assisting in the opening and closing of case files, preparing and proofreading legal documents and pleadings, such as petitions, orders, motions, notices, briefs, subpoenas, administrative rules, agreements, and correspondence as directed by attorneys, arranging for service of process and/or publication, reviewing and preparing requests for assignment closures and processing closed files in compliance with public records law, docketing case activities into the Department’s legal tracking system on a daily basis, reviewing mail and docket correspondence and pleadings, and processing a variety of correspondence.  The position will utilize the Criminal Justice Information System, which requires successful background screening (which includes fingerprinting).
