Primary Purpose PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION Under general direction, performs responsible, specialized and confidential legal assignments and research for specified area within the Legal Department. Assists with legal proceedings, transactions and other legal matters by identifying problems, needs and procedures. May work closely with other legal, governmental, or regulatory disciplines and a variety of clients, and assists in the planning, research and evaluation process directed towards the management of the Company's legal exposure. Primary Duties PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES Collect, analyze, organize and maintain the entire array of information, records and documents in accordance with acceptable legal practices and procedures as needed to support Legal and the practice area attorneys (50%) Prepare draft documents pertaining to litigation, company business and Legal activity for attorney edit and review (15%) Develop and maintain a knowledge of statutes, court decisions and the background relating to procedures and processes in the applicable areas of practice within the law department (5%) Perform routine legal procedures under direct supervision and control of attorney; perform routine legal research (15%) Draft documents that require insertion of basic information and/or utilizing standard format following department practice (5%) Perform filing and other clerical functions (5%) Coordinate work with Legal Administrative Assistants (5%) Job Scope JOB SCOPE Supports attorneys, company management and senior level paralegal staff in matters involving company personnel, and outside counsel and their staff Supports co-workers regarding department activities and functions Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Possess at least two to four years of professional legal experience in a specialized area of law; possess a high school degree or equivalent; and possess a paralegal certificate from an accredited institution or have a minimum of two to four years of in-depth practical experience, including litigation, in an established law firm. Possess the demonstrated ability to comprehend and follow verbal instructions. Possess a general knowledge of law firm and legal practices and procedures, including litigation, and the rules or procedures required of the various court and administrative systems. Posses a working knowledge of legal terminology. Be highly skilled in the use of computers and software packages being utilized by the department. Possess and demonstrate initiative and sound judgment required to make decisions without supervision and in the absence of exact established procedures. Possess willingness to accept responsibility and devote the time necessary for success in a legal environment. Possess the ability to meet critical and short deadlines, a commitment to successful performance and the completion of tasks, and the ability to work in demanding conditions. Possess the ability to communicate clearly � both orally and in writing �and to read and analyze legal materials and other data. Preferred Qualifications PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Paralegal candidates must have significant litigation experience for the role, including experience with filing and serving complaints in the courts of common pleas and magisterial district courts; drafting and answering discovery; scheduling depositions; and drafting and answering motions in a fast-paced environment with a heavy caseload Benefits Annual salary will vary based on a candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors:USD $66,400.00/Yr. - USD $99,600.00/Yr.
