Paralegal - Real Estate
THIS JOB DESCRIPTION DOES NOT ATTEMPT TO LIST ALL OF THE DUTIES THAT ARE OR MAY BE PERFORMED IN THIS POSITION Primary Duties Right of Way 1. Supports the preparation and review of documents including but not limited to initial offers, final offers, easements, amendments, assignments, partial releases, leases and various related agreements. 2. Reviews titles/surveys. 3. Tracks ROW/Legal Projects and maintains organization of file folders. 4. Facilitates communication with outside Right of Way agents and outside counsel regarding document review, project status and condemnation related matters. Real Estate 1. Supports the preparation and review of documents including but not limited to lease amendments, real estate closing documents, and estoppels. 2. Tracks critical dates for real estate closings. 3. Reviews titles/surveys. 4. Serves as our liaison with the title company for closings. 5. Researches Atmos Energy ownership interest in properties. 6. Assists in managing periodic payments related to railroad permits, above-ground site leases, and underground storage leases. 7. Partners with the Facilities Management group. Other Reviews and prepares documents for production, in response to investigations and special projects. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Educational/Experience Level: A four-year undergraduate degree and three years of related real estate experience; or a high school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and five years of related real estate experience. Strongly preferred: Law firm or in-house legal department experience. Exposure to litigation and prior work with pipeline companies and/or utilities is beneficial but not required. Communication Skills: Requires the ability to communicate with internal and/or external customers in order to obtain and/or provide explanations and/or modifications on technical or other complex concepts to individuals with little or no background in the area under discussion. Numeric Skills: Requires the ability to perform basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Computer Skills: Advanced knowledge of various business computer applications in order to create complex documents, reports or graphics. Physical Demands: Requires frequently performing activities, including, but not limited to, stooping, bending, kneeling, grasping, reaching, climbing and lifting.
