Position Purpose:
In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors; the Paramedic will provide patient care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs. Functions within the standards, policies, procedures and guidelines of the Organization.
This Paramedic position will be sharing time between the Emergency Departments at Mount Carmel Grove City and Mount Carmel Franklinton working three 12-hour shifts per week from 7am - 7:30pm with rotating weekends and holidays.
What You Will Do:
Initiates respiratory interventions including oxygen therapy and assistance with preparation for intubation per physician order or protocolInitiates and discontinues intravenous lines and intraosseous (IO) access as requested by the physician, including use of the ultrasound machineInterprets cardiac rhythms and initiates appropriate treatment (CPR/defibrillation)Transports and monitors stable telemetry and non-telemetry patientsMaintains professional radio communication with incoming EMS unitsPerforms patient care activities as appropriately delegated by the RN in a timely mannerPerforms treatments and procedures according to approved standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.Verifies and implements physician/other licensed independent practitioner’s orders.Administers medications, according to the organization’s standards, policies, procedures and/or guidelines.Initiates appropriate emergency procedures within the scope of practice under the direction of the physician/other LIP.Practices proper patient identification procedures. Maintains equipment appropriate to the care environment.Establishes priorities for the delivery of care and meets patient needs.Performs visual acuity, eye irrigations and equipment setupsPerforms CLIA-waived testing as assigned.Performs phlebotomy and obtains lab specimens as ordered.Follows appropriate protocols and participates as a team member for trauma, stroke, STEMI and sepsis alerts, and resuscitation.Performs wound care and practices sterile technique when appropriatePerforms suture and staple removal, excluding facial region.Performs foley care and collects specimens.Performs EKGPerforms PhlebotomyPerforms orthopedic dutiesParticipates in hazardous materials or disaster eventsPerforms duties as assigned in triage including facilitating door to EKG benchmarkMinimum Qualifications:
High School / GED. Successful completion of an approved course(s) which includes basic patient care skills, EKG and phlebotomy requiredLicense / Certification: Current Paramedic Certification in the State of Ohio. ACLS required, Current BLS Healthcare Provider required, PALS preferredExperience: 2-4 years previous patient care experience and/or technical education in health-related field preferredEffective Communication SkillsPosition Highlights and Benefits:
