Respond to cardiac and respiratory emergencies, performs cardiac monitoring and defibrillation; maintains circulation controls bleeding and provides spinal management and immobilization. Provide fluid resuscitation by IV and manage trauma injuries, bleeding, and post-traumatic shock. Operate or utilize various emergency vehicles and emergency/medical equipment, tools and supplies which may include ambulance, extrication tools, blood pressure cuff, cardiac monitor, glucose monitor, defibrillator, endotracheal tube, external pacing device, 12 lead EKG airway equipment, intravenous pump, laryngoscope, oxygen terminal, pulse oximetry monitor, CPAP, auto-ventilator, pediatric equipment, medical supplies, radio communications equipment, and general office equipment. Select the most efficient route to and from sites, taking into consideration traffic patterns, health facility locations, etc. Perform thorough safety and operator maintenance inspections and makes minor repairs on a variety of emergency ambulances, patient transport vehicles, and medical equipment. Ensures that the vehicles are kept clean and neat. Responsible for taking patients to and from medical areas, and coordinates, with the patient and unit, the time of departure. Assist in lifting and carrying patients into or out of transport vehicles and into treatment facility. Utilizes various tools and equipment to transport patients, such as Henley backboards, EKG monitor and defibrillator, and mechanical CPR device, etc. Provide a full range of EMT services within the MTF and supported geographical area.
