After receiving the call from the dispatcher, the Paramedic arrives to the location given, using the most expeditious route. The Paramedic must be able to work alone, and give instructions to laypersons during an emergency. Responsibilities PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES(*Essential Functions)


Administers medications defined within practice guidelines of Standard Operating Procedures under the advisement of the Medical Director (online) or Standardized Medical Orders (Protocols).
Administers oral, pre-measured SUB-Q & IM medications within guidelines of Standard Operating Procedures under the advisement of the Medical Director (online) of Standardized Medical Orders (Protocols) Assesses and evaluates patients' clinical condition during the duration of the emergency, while always being a patient advocate.
Demonstrates adherence to paramedic standards of care established by National and State EMS Commission.
Demonstrates consistent proficiency in starting and maintaining peripheral I.V. lines during emergency circumstances.
Maintains a clean, safe working environment on a daily basis.
Maintains stock supplies and monitors levels to assure necessary supplies are available.
Maintains patient privacy at all times during examination and treatment.
Completes written Patient Care Reports with pertinent patient observation and reactions/outcomes in a timely manner.
Administers oxygen using various types of equipment according to Standardized Medical Orders (Protocols).
Qualifications JOB SPECIFICATIONS(Minimum Requirements)

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide tasks appropriate to the infant, child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient during an emergency. Ability to assess need for and perform CPR. Meets mental and physical requirements of the job. Good interpersonal skills. Ability to relate appropriately to patients, co-workers, clients, and public. Follow directions and performs assignments in a prompt, efficient manner. Ability to adapt to period of high service activity and stressful environment, as well as, periods of low activity.
EDUCATION
High School Diploma/GED Equivalent Required 1 Healthcare/Medical Preferred Certified Paramedic Certified Paramedic - State of Indiana National Registry Paramedic National Registry Paramedic CPR CPR- (AHA/BLS) Healthcare Provider ACLS
