Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Paramedic.
In this role, the successful candidate Provides pre-hospital emergency medical care at the advanced life support level. Provides transportation to the sick and injured through the NYC 911 system. Demonstrates patient assessment history and care provided on the Ambulance Call Report.
Job Responsibilities:
Provides ALS assessment of patient condition and treats in accordance with NYS DOH and Regional Guidelines. Transports patient to appropriate hospital and transfers care to hospital staff communicating patients condition and any treatment rendered.Demonstrates an awareness of and respect for coworker/patients cultural background. Assesses patients ability to communicate in English and assists in the provision of an interpreter as neededComplies with Controlled substance policies and procedures.Reports to work on time and in uniform with appropriate personal equipment. Swipes in and out in accordance with policy.Out of service time is minimized and documented on Unit Activity Log with appropriate notifications made.Complies with scheduling procedures and availability submission.Maintains ability and credentials to work in NYC 911 system.Participates in Department Hospital and Regional Quality Improvement Programs. Attends Department Meetings and Training Sessions.Works as a team with partner and other providers on scene and at the hospital to provide highest quality care. Cooperates and maintains a professional relationship with others to facilitate the delivery of care to patients. Cooperates with supervision and others to achieve the goals of the Department.Follows NYU, FDNY and NYS DOH guidelines for operations of emergency vehicles. Checks vehicle and equipment at the beginning of each shift replenishing supplies where needed. Completes a checklist noting any deficiencies. Cleans and maintains vehicle and equipment. Restocks and refuels vehicle to maintain NYS DOH part 800 compliance.Is familiar with contents and complies with policies of the 911 System Provider Guide which was supplied to employee and complies with NYS DOH BEMS Regulations.Notifies RCC at the beginning of the shift and logs onto the CAD system in a timely fashion. Constantly monitors MDT and radio for assignments and promptly communicates changes in signal status. Maintains professional radio decorum and complies with local guidelines for radio protocol.Complies with uniform policy. Maintains a neat clean professional appearance and wears appropriate identification visible at all times.Completes an Electronic Pre- Hospital Call Report (E-PCR) including insurance information and assignment of claim signature in accordance with policies for every patient contact. All reports forms and logs are submitted complete accurate legible and neat, prior to the end of shift.Drives an ambulance safely in both emergency and non-emergency mode throughout shiftMinimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D. Completion of New York State Department of Health approved Paramedic Program.
six (6) months ambulance experience as a Paramedic. Six (6) months 911 ALS experience preferred. Willingness to devote the time required completing assigned tasks on schedule.
Required License Registration Certification
Valid Driver License
Weapons of Mass Destruction Certificate (WMD)
Haz-Mat Awareness Certificate
CEVO or EVOC Certificate.
Required Licenses: Standardized Awareness Cert, Hazardous Materials Cert, Weapons Mass Destruction Cert, Paramedic, EMT - Cert, Driver's License

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $39.60 - $41.52 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
