Description:

Position Purpose: 

Responds to ambulance calls and provides advanced patient care.  Directs cares and provides guidance at scene. Performs vehicle maintenance and assists in the Emergency Room.

What you will Do: 

Conducts an initial and ongoing assessment to gather data relevant to each patient’s needs.

Identifies patient care needs and follows protocol.

Evaluates outcome of treatment and revises plan as needed.

Communicates relevant patient information.

Transports sick or injured persons to hospital, or convalescents to destination, avoiding sudden motions detrimental to patients.

Performs vehicle maintenance: Checks vehicles and performs maintenance or reports to head mechanic and checks and maintains all equipment within rig and reports discrepancies to manager.

Assists in audits and other clinical areas as needed.

Participates in public relations and educational activities.

Hours/Schedule:  

.9 FTE; 72 hours per pay period; will include a weekend and holiday rotation.

Minimum Qualifications:  

Graduate of an Iowa Paramedic Course or National Paramedic Course.

Certified Iowa Paramedic or RN Exemption

Valid IA Class C driver’s license and an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).

BLS provider, ACLS, PALS, Mandatory Reporter. (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training (NVCI) within 6 months of hire.)

Intermediate language, intermediate math, high reasoning ability.

Ability to work with diverse group of people; ability to convey a positive image and build positive relationships with others; ability to work under pressure. Must pass pre-hire physical agility test.
