In addition to operations and maintenance, the following types of experience are also qualifying; law enforcement or security, firefighting, environmental education, environmental stewardship, natural resource management, forest management, wildlife management or preservation, or historic preservation or interpretation; OROne year of military service in any of the military branches; ORAn Associate’s or higher-level degree, or 60 credit hours of college-level coursework; OR Completion of an appropriate two-year technical / trades school program or two years of experience as a trade assistant under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson. Duties Description The Park Worker 3’s duties include but are not limited to:• Operate and perform routine maintenance on a variety of power-driven mechanical equipment including trucks, refuse packers, tractors, mowers and power saws, and self-propelled equipment.• Load and unload cargo from vehicles and storage areas; perform building, road, and grounds maintenance and comfort station cleaning activities. • Operate large dump trucks, large front end loader, bucket trucks and plow trucks.• Perform semi-skilled maintenance and repair activities in a variety of trades such as carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, and mechanical repairs.• Perform skilled maintenance activities under supervision or after receiving detailed instruction.• Assist in repairing paths, picnic tables, benches, trails and park equipment.• Assist with tree pruning and removal, operation of a chain saw, aerial lift, and chipper.• Complete snow removal by shoveling snow and operating plow vehicles in the winter months.• Assist in emergency situations by applying emergency practice and procedures, assisting and directing staff; and assist with traffic control and parking vehicles. • Assign, supervise, review, train and evaluate work of subordinate employees.
