Position Summary
Under the supervision of the parking supervisors and manager, the Parking Attendant controls access to and monitors usage of assigned parking facilities, interacts with visitors to provide information and assistance, and reports necessary repairs or problems to the appropriate individuals. This position also maintains our Operations and Registration Offices and assists with events. The Parking Attendant is responsible for some maintenance duties, cleaning, and preparing the facilities for day-to-day and event use. They will report necessary repairs and issues to the appropriate supervisor, and ask for tools and assistance when needed.
Working Conditions
Must be able to handle being outside with different weather conditions (e.g. rain, sun, heat, cold, etc.), be self-motivated yet also work well with a team. Office conditions are inside parking garages. Parking Attendants work different shifts each week and may be scheduled any day of the week. The 8-hour daily shifts may be any time between 5:30 a.m. and 11:30 p.m. and sometimes earlier or later depending on department needs.Proposed Hiring Range: $16/hr
Requirements
HS Diploma or equivalent 6 months related experience (i.e. - customer service, working at a university, parking, transportation, light maintenance, etc.) In lieu of the experience requirement, additional related education, above and beyond what is required, on an equivalent year for year basis may be substituted Strong skills in customer service, computer, communications (verbal and written, multi-tasking) Must have the ability to learn the parking office systems and regulations quickly and stay calm in pressure situations. Valid Texas Drivers License (or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment) required with no more than 3 moving violations within the past 36 months and no citations for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) or Driving Under the Influence (DUI)Essential Functions
Keeps parking areas clean and orderly to ensure that space usage is maximized Directs motorists to parking areas or parking spaces, using hand signals or flashlights as necessary Patrols parking areas to prevent vehicle damage and vehicle or property thefts Calculates parking charges when equipment is not working and collect fees from customers Lifts, positions, and removes barricades to open or close parking areas Provides direction and assistance to visitors as needed Performs all other duties as assignedPreferences
