Job Title: Part Time, Flexible Specification SpecialistJob Description We are seeking a part-time, remote Labeling Specialist to join our team. This is a flexible position ideal for individuals with package labeling experience in human and/or pet food consumer packaged goods. The role involves working 16-24 hours per week during first shift business hours (7am-5pm CST), with flexible hours from week to week, not exceeding 1300 hours annually. The position is intended to be open-ended, with contract extensions based on successful assignment completion. Responsibilities + Develop an understanding of FDA and USDA labeling regulations and company policies. + Work closely with the labeling team to support project and business work. + Develop and maintain accurate food labeling information for finished products (e.g., allergens, nutrition, ingredient statements, product name, claims) to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations (FDA, USDA), third-party certification standards, and company policies. + Work across functional teams to ensure compliance with local and regional regulations, third-party certification standards, and company policies. + Complete and submit documentation to support regulatory requirements and claims. + Contribute to, review, and approve artwork, packaging, graphics, and text of existing and proposed product labels to ensure accuracy, consistency, and regulation compliance. + Develop and inform communication for consumer and customer inquiries pertaining to labeling. + Collaborate to manage regulatory, food safety, litigation, brand, and third-party risk for products and businesses, and provide input into risk management decisions, balancing regulatory risk with business and operational needs. Essential Skills + BS in Nutrition, Food Science, or a related field. + 3 years of labeling and regulatory experience. + Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working with teams. + Evidence of strong problem-solving abilities. + Strong organizational and computer skills. + Ability to work with multiple database systems and efficiently network to gather required information. + Proficiency in handling multiple projects simultaneously, multitasking, and prioritization to meet deadlines. + Ability to build effective relationships and seek additional work when business is slow. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Working knowledge of regional regulatory standards and documentation requirements. + Experience in food product development, commercialization, and related processes. + Knowledge of food safety and allergens. Work Environment This is a 1300-hour track position with flexible, part-time hours ranging from 16-24 hours per week during first shift business hours (7am-5pm CST), Monday through Friday. The role is open-ended, with contracts extended based on successful assignment completion. Although local candidates in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area are preferred, remote candidates will be considered. Personal provided technology (excluding Macs) will be used for this assignment and GMI VDI will be provisioned. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
