JOB SUMMARY\n

The Kennel Technician will maintain a clean and sanitary City of Conroe Animal Shelter facility and will assist with daily operations as directed.\n

QUALIFICATIONS\n

Education and Experience:\n

High school diploma or equivalent required. \n

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: \n\nMust possess Animal Control Certification and Euthanasia Certification or able to obtain within 12 months.\nMust possess a valid Texas class \"C\" driver's license.\nMust be able to communicate with the public in a professional manner at all times.\nMust be able to read and write; basic math skills are required.\nMust be able to work around animals for extended periods of time.\nMust be able to work emergency and on-call hours.\nMust be able to work weekends.\nAttendance and punctuality are essential functions of this position. \n\n

PHYSICAL DEMANDS\n

The work is heavy and requires the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally with assistance, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and\/or up to 20 pounds of force consistently to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking. \n

Must pass background check and pre-employment substance abuse screening as a condition of employment. A motor vehicle record check and job-related doctor's physical exam may also be required. Must pass FBI Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) fingerprint-based criminal background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
