The Fry Family YMCA located in Naperville, IL is hiring a part-time Aquatics Team Lead - Swim Lessons to create a high-quality, safe aquatics experience for YMCA members and program participants.

As an Aquatics Team Lead - Swim Lessons, you will be responsible for coordinating and supervising the day-to-day operation of the aquatic programs. You will assist with maintaining records, scheduling staff, and ensuring proper pool maintenance. The Aquatics Team Lead - Swim Lessons performs evaluations of swim instructors, assists with planning and implementing quarterly in-service, and supervising instructors, volunteers, and other team members as assigned and acts as a liaison between the Aquatics Manager and aquatics staff. You will teach swim lessons as scheduled or needed.

Assists with coordination of group swim lessons. Serves as point of contact when the Aquatics Director and Aquatics Manager are not available. Assists with administration of the swim lessons, which includes registration, evaluations, assisting with waitlists, contacting swim lesson participants, running rosters, and ensuring completion of progress trackers and certificates of achievement each month. Assists in scheduling swim instructors to ensure proper ratios and shift coverage. Assists in supervising swim instructors, as well as providing evaluation input. Teaches YMCA Swim Instructor certification classes as needed. Assists in training new swim instructor staff. Provides backup to lifeguards as needed in emergencies. Reports injuries and completes required forms. Immediately notify a supervisor of any broken equipment or unsafe aspects of the pool. Assists in creating content and conducting all swim instructor in-services as scheduled. Assists with ensuring adherence to state and county standards. Supports the YMCA’s mission and community hub operations as needed.Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
Must have an Associate Degree with 1 to 3 years' experience and some supervisory experience. Current YMCA or ARC Lifeguard certification. Proficient in swimming and safety skills. Must pass a water skills test and written exam. Physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer CPR and First Aide effectively. Physical mobility to properly use aquatic equipment to rescue a 200lb person. Physically able to see, hear, and communicate clearly. Able to read, write, and perform basic math to complete daily chemical logs and individual must possess strong organizational, budgetary, computer and communication skills, written and verbal. Ability to train swim instructors. Excellent communication and public relations skills. Requires the ability to obtain trainer-level certification in YMCA Swim Lessons: Fitness Classes, Youth & Adult, Preschool, and Child/Parent.Child Abuse Prevention - Supports the YMCA’s commitment to child abuse prevention by:
