Part-time Assistant Instructors for Introductory Biology, Biochemistry, or Genetics

The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for up to eight part-time Assistant Instructor positions for the Fall 2024 term, each on a one-term basis, outside the tenure stream, with an anticipated start date of 26 August 2024. Each Assistant Instructor will assist in one of three lecture courses: BIOSC 0150 Foundations of Biology 1 (topics of central metabolism and the central dogma), BIOSC 0350 Genetics, or BIOSC 1000 Biochemistry. Duties will include helping the faculty member during lecture with active learning, teaching four recitations per week, grading, and holding office hours. Minimum qualifications are a BS degree in biology or related field and teaching experience (work as an undergraduate TA or as a tutor would be acceptable); preferred qualifications are an MS in biology or enrollment in a biology graduate program, solo teaching experience, training in biochemistry, genetics, or molecular biology, or a PhD in biology.
