Job Summary 

The Part-Time Career Readiness Instructor will provide instruction and/or co-instruction, to youth seeking vocational educational and employment services. The Part-Time Career Readiness will be based out of our 41st Street site but will interact with staff at all CHNY sites. The Part-Time Career Readiness Instructor will collaborate with other Covenant house teams to ensure a well-rounded experience for the youth that focuses on their success. Additionally, The Part-Time Career Readiness Instructor. Reporting to the CovWorks Shelter Project Manager, the Part Time Career Readiness Instructor strives for alignment with the organizational vision and values, while serving the individual needs of each young person. The Part Time Career Readiness Instructor prepares the youth to embark on their next steps toward employment, vocational training or educational scholarship after successful completion of the class. 

 

Duties & Responsibilities 

Conduct Career Readiness Workshops including positive communication, conflict management techniques, interviewing principles, goal setting, resumes and cover letters writing.  Create and maintain a positive, interactive, respectful, and participatory learning environment  Assist in the participant enrollment and screening process, and assessment of client’s career goals.  Assess, monitor, and document participants’ progress, and achievements via Progress Notes in the ETO System.  Refers clients to other CHNY services and needed.  Work in collaboration with other CHNY/CHI team members in facilitation of workshops and community partner engagements.  Attending relevant meetings, training courses and workshops assigned by supervisory team.  Always reflects CHNY’s values and principles on social media.
