As part of Applied Technology, Workforce & Economic Development/Corporate College, the instructor will be responsible for planning and providing CPR training courses to partner businesses and companies throughout the Blinn College district, including the Bryan/College Station and Prairie View areas. Essential Duties 1. Responsible for planning, coordinating and teaching CPR/First Aid courses and assisting students in achieving their certification2. Perform cleaning tasks after every class (such as cleaning mannequins and equipment)3. Adapt and implement teaching approaches to the industry, experience and ability of participants to ensure course objectives are met4. Evaluates students by a variety of means to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform them in a timely manner of their progress5. Travel to external classrooms/lab locations within the Blinn College district6. Work with Corporate College to continuously improve instructional quality by reviewing and utilizing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods7. Provide for the health and safety of participants, including ensuring that all teaching and practice areas are free of hazards, and that materials and equipment are safe8. Recognize and respond effectively in emergencies in accordance with facility emergency action plans. Enforce all policies, rules and regulations
9. Complete administrative tasks associated with submitting information to the American Red Cross for requesting, receiving, and distributing Red Cross CRP/AED certification of completion cards9. Complete college and state records and reports in a timely manner10. Provide feedback for evaluating the effectiveness of training activities11. Perform additional tasks as requested
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities High school diploma or equivalency and at least 36 months of related work experience Current certification to teach/instruct AMERICAN RED CROSS CPR/AED training Experience in teaching adults Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills; must have demonstrated problem-solving ability Thorough knowledge, application and certification of American Red Cross CPR rescue skills and ability to teach the skills Ability to provide successful training in spite of less-than-ideal facilities/classroom environment or equipment occasionally available/malfunction Demonstrated ability and commitment to working collaboratively Ability to manage complex situations while demonstrating a high degree of judgment, tact and discretion Demonstrated commitment to multi-cultural and multi-generational diversity Basic computer proficiency, specifically with Office 365 software (word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software) Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues and the community Flexible work schedule – ability to work days and occasional evenings. Training schedule will be coordinated based on company and instructor availability Preferred Experience and Training Physical Requirements The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile.
