Essential functions:
The College of Education at Wayne State University invites applications for part-time instructor pool positions for Special Education in the areas of Cognitive Impairment and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder to begin spring/summer 2023. The successful candidate will join the Division of Teacher Education (TED), which attracts faculty, staff, and students who are committed to urban education and social justice. Successful candidates will be contacted when there are open courses which they are qualified to teach.
Candidates should be able to:
Teach pre-service and in-service teachers;
Prepare courses for online, hybrid, or face-to-face delivery, as circumstances warrant;
Develop and prepare semester-specific syllabi in alignment with officially approved course syllabi;
Maintain courses through the Canvas online course management system (training available);
Engage in essential instructional functions including holding weekly office hours, grading assignments, and uploading final grades; and
Maintain courses through the Canvas online course management system (training available).
Qualifications:
Knowledge of diverse ideas and implementations of inclusive education; knowledge of Universal Design for Learning, social and emotional learning, and culturally responsive pedagogy; master’s degree or higher in relevant area and 3 years teaching experience.
Preferred qualifications:
Earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D) in relevant area, 3 years teaching special education, K-12; active professional development throughout teaching career and University-level teaching experience, including face-to-face, hybrid, and online formats.
