Part-time Field Course Lecturer Forest Ecology Position

The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a part-time Lecturer position for the summer term at the Pymatuning Laboratory of Ecology in Linesville, PA from 19 May – 6 June 2025. This position is outside of the tenure stream and involves teaching the field course BIOSC 1160 Forest Ecology. This is an intensive, three-week class that meets Monday-Friday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Minimum qualifications are a PhD degree in biology or a related field with some teaching experience, preferred qualifications are publication of post-graduate research work in a relevant field, experience teaching a field course, and experience teachingForest Ecology or a similar course.

The Pymatuning Laboratory of Ecology is a field station located in Northwestern Pennsylvania. Further information about the field station and the Department of Biological Sciences is available at https://www.biology.pitt.edu/facilities/pymatuning. Instructors are reimbursed for travel to and from the site and are housed in cabins. The board includes Monday breakfast through Friday lunch, and the cabins are equipped with kitchens.
