Fleet Management is committed to providing the most efficient and cost-effective support, maintenance and operation of Gwinnett County's fleet as well as, ten other local cities and agencies. With an annual operating budget in excess of $25 million and the leading member of the North Georgia Fuel Co-op, Fleet Management provides the fuel that keeps Gwinnett County moving. The fleet technician will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing Fire Apparatus to include troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems; reading and understanding hydraulic and electrical schematics; troubleshooting and repairing diesel engines (Cat, Cummins, Detroit); and maintaining routine maintenance schedules. Commercial and diesel vehicle, heavy equipment, and machinery experience are highly desirable. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS + High School Diploma or G.E.D; + Valid Driver's License; + Four (4) years of experience maintaining and repairing fire apparatus/ heavy equipment and vehicles; + Technological and electrical skills and experience repairing and maintaining specialized equipment found in ambulances, fire trucks, and other emergency vehicles. + Commercial Driver’s License preferred + Emergency vehicle technician preferred This classification is considered safety sensitive and will require a pre-employment drug test and subsequent random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Gwinnett County Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace.
