Oversees the financial management responsibilities of the Welcome Center and assumes additional duties in the absence of the park manager, including scheduling, disciplinary actions, timecards, the 42nd Street Boat Ramp and Dog Park. Greets and welcomes the customers and develops relationships to ensure customer satisfaction. Ensures a positive customer service experience with excellent service. Position is responsible for collecting daily fees, selling season passes, answering questions and giving directions according to our policies. Other duties including interacting with other City employees, general public and monitoring park entrance and exit. Responding to questions and concerns. Position Responsibilities Ability to check the work of the Welcome Center Representatives for financial irregularities. Prepare work schedules for subordinates on a rotating two week basis. Responsible for identifying the need for disciplinary actions, recommending courses of action and drafting the written corrective action for the park manager using the City of Indianapolis Employee Manual. Responsible for cash receipts, security of funds and transporting deposits to the bank IAW standard operating procedures and within the specified time frame established by Indiana Code (next business day). In the absence of the park manager perform the following tasks: Assume responsibility for Welcome Center operations; approve timecards for the Welcome Center representatives; make schedule modifications to cover short notice staff absences; oversee the operation of the 42nd Street boat ramp and the dog park. Provide excellent customer service by having frequent interaction with citizens and park patrons; answering questions; and providing directions. Scan cards and greet incoming customers in a pleasant manner, monitor and control access to the facility. Collect money for daily admissions and yearly pass sales. Be knowledgeable about and provide accurate information on facility services, programs, schedules, costs, annual pass membership, directions and policies. Answer questions and address issues in a positive, caring manner. Accurate accounting for daily finances. Keep area around welcome center clean and litter free. Opening and closing of the buildings according to established procedures. Opening, balancing and cashing out your own cash drawer at the end of shift. Provides on-site training Accurately complete any required paperwork including but not limited to, dog park applications, annual pass memberships, facility rentals, time cards, inspections, incident reports and bank draft forms. Attend meetings or training sessions as required. Responsible for cleanliness and general appearance of work site and provide a positive image between department and community. Report to work on time with a positive, friendly attitude wearing professional attire/uniform and name badge. Adhere to time off and office policies. Various clerical tasks such as typing, copying, filing, billing, phone calls, mailings, stuffing packets and other tasks assigned. Assist supervisor who recruits, hires, trains, evaluates, disciplines and advises on-site personnel and volunteers. Ability to work not only at Welcome Centers but also front desk of the Earth Discovery Center, Ornithology Center, Administration Building and 42nd St Boat Ramp where they would answer phones and addition to above responsibilities. Ability to train other staff in the Welcome Center policies and procedures. Monitor park activities. Adhere to department policy and procedure. Respond to safety and emergency situations. Scheduling and implementing facility rentals. Provides for the supervision and safe operation of the Welcome Centers. Qualifications High School education and /or GED, and a minimum of at least three (3) year work experience in a customer service environment preferred. Effective in customer relation skills with community and with City staff. Effectively communicate park policies. Knowledge of basic computer programs and cash registers. Must be self-motivated. Ability to work productively with limited supervision. Ability to work varied work schedule including weekends, evenings and holidays. Ability to train seasonal staff. Ability to build rapport and relate well with others. Listening for understanding and meaning; speaks and writes effectively. Takes initiative to assist others. Valid Indiana Operator's license required. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. This position requires bending, stooping, reaching, sitting, standing, walking, lifting, finger dexterity, typing, grasping and talking. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Independent Judgment Position requires the knowledge of park policies and practices. Limited, but effective independent judgment is required. Appropriate use of resources, i.e. staff manuals, park personnel, etc. to make informed decision is required. Ability to be people oriented. Seek first to understand the other person's point of view, and remain calm in challenging situations. Identify and report all financial irregularities immediately. Independent judgment is utilized when there are no available policies and procedures.
