Part-time instructor: Spanish Literature
NYU Madrid is seeking a part time lecturer to teach the course “Cervantes and Don Quijote.” Teaching commences in the Fall Term (late August-Mid December 2025). The course is taught in English. The specific parameters of the course are included below. Candidates must be legally able to work in Spain at the time of application. Course description This course analyzes the first and second parts of Don Quixote and examines their significance from literary, philosophical, political, and social perspectives. Upon Completion of this Course, students will be able to: + Analyze the text in order to expand and discuss its themes as themes that are not being bound by time and place + Analyze the text's themes in a modern context, without ignoring the text's original context + Discuss the universal themes and enduring relevance of Don Quixote The lecturer should hold a Ph.D. in Spanish literature or Spanish Cultural Studies. Candidates who have studied at a U.S. institution of higher education or who have experience teaching at such a school to a diverse demographic of English-speaking undergraduates are strongly encouraged to apply.
