Part-Time Maintenance Technician I (Parks Operations)

JOB SUMMARY\n

This position performs labor-intensive tasks while performing routine general and preventative maintenance to grounds, equipment, facilities and infrastructure on a daily basis. This position requires a good understanding of basic facility repairs, electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems. This position may complete tasks within close proximity to the general public and must be capable of providing a safe work zone. This position is expected to maintain the highest level of customer service while engaging with contractors, the general public and other city departments. This position reports to the Facilities Maintenance Coordinator.\n

QUALIFICATIONS\n

Education and Experience:\n

High school diploma or equivalent with one year of minimum experience.\n

Special Requirements:\n

Possession of a valid Texas Class C Driver's License. First Aid, CPR and AED certification or ability to obtain in six months.\n

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: \n\nKnowledge of principles and practices of parks and recreation facilities maintenance and repair or related services.\nKnowledge of principles and practices of safe work habits.\nSkill in operating a variety of tools, equipment, vehicles and trailers.\nSkill in analyzing problems and developing effective solutions.\nAbility to work independently or cohesively as part of a team.\nAbility to understand and follow the City of Conroe and departmental policies and procedures.\nAbility to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.\nAbility to speak, read and write in English.\n\n

PHYSICAL DEMANDS\n

The work is heavy and requires the ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and\/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and\/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking.\n

Must pass background check and pre-employment substance abuse screening as a condition of employment. A motor vehicle record check and job-related doctor's physical exam may also be required. Safety-sensitive positions remain subject to random drug and alcohol testing after hire.
